The book Mount Allegro: A Memoir of Italian American Life looks into the lives of Italian Americans through the eyes of its author. It is an autobiographical glimpse of Jerre Gerlando Mangione while he was growing up is a community in Rochester dominated by Sicilians. The text is an excellent memoir that captures the immigrant experience in the United States.
A notable topic raised in the book has to do with Italian immigrants living in American. This group began trickling into the US in droves in the late nineteenth century.
