Reading Reflection: The American Expansion to the West
The American expansion to the west came at a cost. While it appears to be a momentous period to the history of the United States, it was also a moment of grief to the Native Indians. The conquering and the occupation of the West comprised of two groups. On one hand were the American troops under the instructions of clearing the land for the settlement of American ranchers and inhabitants while on the other hand was the Native Indians determined to secure the land for their posterity. According chapter six of the assigned reading (n.d.), the expansion to the West spelled doom to the native Indians that had occupied the land.
