The society is filled with absurdity, which is experienced by people from different backgrounds. In the reading “the absurd,” the author describes absurdity as a situation that is not normal in the life of an individual, family, or community (Nagel, 1971). People experience absurdity in that they believe what they do on earth will be of no significance in a million years to come (Nagel, 1971). The author also postulates that what people do currently is dependent on their need to satisfy personal wants or to live comfortably. Doing things that make one comfortable makes the absurd situation less pronounced but still existent. Absurdity is, therefore, a state of mind which creates unrealistic condition seem real and discomforting.
