This paper presents a reflection on three selected articles, namely, ‘The Geographies of Exclusion and the Politics of Inclusion: Race-based Exclusions in the Teaching of International Relations’ by Greeta Chowdhury and Shirin M. Rai, ‘Race in International Relations’ by Tilden J. Le Melle, and ‘The Elephant in the Room’ by Wendy Theodore. Firstly, I find the article on the geographies of exclusion and politics of inclusion quite intriguing as it discusses the thorny issue of race in the training of diplomatic interactions. I agree with Chowdhry and Rai (2009) on their assertion that the subject of race is often conspicuously missing in the teaching of international relations. However, since issues of race are real, people tend to draw conclusions based on geographical characteristics and political ideologies. Therefore, racial issues must be adequately articulated in international relations education to avoid erroneous exclusions or inclusions certain groups or ideas.
