This is not the kind of book that I would call an every days read. It gives a very candid life story of a young girl who develops eating disorder and how she overcomes it. The author is still suffering from the disorders but she uses the book to relieve herself off the burden caused by the sickness. One of the things that make the book very interesting to read is how the author uses a real situation of what is happening in her life and the difficulty of getting out of her current situation.
From a critical view point, I am able to relate myself with the authors idea especially where she talks of how you can adjust yourself in life to accommodate your sicknesses and how well to survive in an environment where you are the only person who is different. This is seen through the authors own descriptive way in which she describes her life from her childhood all through to her adult hood, how she relates with her family up to where and when she losses her sense of womanhood to the world of men.
I cannot ignore the fact that reading the book at times, it has given me mixed reactions. I have not suffered the disease myself. Bearing that in mind, I would be quick to recommend the book to someone who has the disorder or even recommend it to young teenage girls to enlighten her on ...
