There are a lot of things to consider before institutionalizing and allowing the use of cellphones and other gadgets in class. According to different scientific researches, the use of cellphones can cause both detrimental and beneficial effects to the lives of students and the dynamics with their relationship with the teacher within the school environment. Most studies show evidences highly suggests that cellphones are generally a distraction for students but that does not remove the productive and enhanced capabilities of students for their education and learning. A study that involved assessing the performance of people has found and concluded that people are not wired to be that adept at multi-tasking with their conscious minds. Using class was no exception. A specific study that involved comparing two groups, one who texted, and one group who didn’t, during a lecture. Those who were distracted in using their mobile phones recorded lesser quality notes, remembered less information and performed at a significantly lower level than those who did not use their cellphones.
