Ladson-Billings

Ladson Billings attempts to explain and offer new approaches on how to teach African American children. Her suggestions are inclined to show that African American students are different due to a plethora of factors and their educators should take them into consideration.

Teachers who want to try to be creative and innovative in the classroom often are told that a scripted curriculum and a pacing guide are the only answers for what should happen in their classrooms.

Hook

I concur with you that the educational system is rigid on the things that a teacher can and cannot do in the classroom. In my own experience and a professor, I have experienced this first hand but I have noted that it severely limits the learning process of most students. There are larger issues at play in classroom and ignoring them and sticking to the standards and procedures are disadvantaging most learners especially those from low income families. The class has been structured for middle-class students and the other students are struggling to keep up. it is important that professors try and push the envelop to reach all students and these approaches should be informed by the issues of class and all teachers and professors must find ways to confront the issues of class that alienate some learners.

Danforth

Danforth analyzes the factors that make a great educator and synthesizes them for any other educators to adopt them for their learners. He uses many examples and particularly experiences of eight teachers in Piedmont who had mastered the art of being inclusive educators.

At this point in the development of the art of inclusive education, our goal
is to continue the rich tradition of inclusive teaching practice, carrying the
best of the past forward while working to enrich and enhance that craft
through further experimentation, research, and collaboration.

Ladson-Billings

I concur with you that there are outlier students in our education system and they must not be compelled to follow the ‘standards and procedures’ that work for the majority. The system must be flexible to accommodate them while experimenting with new pedagogical approaches that might help them be more successful academically. There are many issues especially related to their race and or culture that are always at play in the classroom and if educators turn a blind eye to these issues, the learner is left at a disadvantage that translates to relatively lower chances of success in academics. The assumption that blinds educators is that all students are the same which couldn’t be farther from the truth since even twins have their differences. They must therefore be ready to experiment with new approaches to ensure all students are accommodated.

Christensen

Christisen tries to show the connection between industrial fiction and how they influence the minds of children and how these lessons affect their academics especially on critical thinking.

Importantly, students saw themselves as actors in the world; they would be fueled by the opportunit...
