In the book The Pact, George Jenkins is one of the main characters that committed with an agreement with his two friends, Rameck Hunt, and Sampson Davis. Although he finally became a doctor by the end of the story, the narration discussed how difficult the journey was in order to reach their aim finally earning their medical degrees.
