While I initially thought that this was an asset growing up, it turned out that not everyone appreciates the way I view things and make decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was one time in my freshman year when my friends wanted to plan a shoplifting session at the department store and invited me to come along. Knowing that honesty was one of the core values of our home, I refused, hoping that they would understand. To my surprise, the people who I thought were my friends stopped talking to me from then on. It was the first time that I felt that I was judged for only wanting to do good deeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another thing that makes me unique is that I like to do things my own way. I firmly believe that the truth sets people free, even if it is painful. There are some people who agree with me on this, but some friends think that white lies are okay if they will keep the other person from getting hurt. The Holy Bible teaches that honesty is one of God&#8217;s greatest commandments. I carefully study His Word and how it expects us to live our lives, and I am determined to live by it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I were being completely transparent, I have always thought that these traits would help me get along with everybody. But this changed when I entered high school. Even if I was a hardworking person and a team leader in various group projects, I could not get every person to appreciate my perspectives. A lot of them thought that Christian virtues were outdated and unfair, and it was difficult to explain why I heavily relied on applying them in my life endeavors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have since come to realize, thanks to my parents&#8217; counsel, that I cannot please everybody.
