But at first, my sister refused to talk to her or reciprocate her attempts to connect with her. It was understandable, as it was hard for Ellen to accept her illness and the fact that she had to stop everything just to go through treatment and rest. But Nurse Janice persevered and consistently reached out to her in every session. She never tired of explaining the treatment and asking Ellen how she was feeling that day. Before long, Ellen and Nurse Janice became really good friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ellen has been in remission for two years, and to this day, she keeps in touch with Nurse Janice. It wasn&#8217;t only Ellen who was touched by her patience and compassion. All of our family members witnessed how she made sure Ellen felt like a patient with dignity every time she went for a session. I might change my mind if I encounter a specialty that I really enjoy, but regardless of focus, I choose nursing because of the opportunity to make a huge difference in patients&#8217; lives.
