Mercury is an element with a chemical symbol of Hg; this comes in the air in many forms yet mercury exists in three operationally-defined species which are technically named as GEM (Gaseous Elemental Mercury), GOM (Gaseous Oxidized Mercury), and PBM (Particulate-Bond Mercury). Scientists, researchers, and environment-related organizations are making ways in order to prevent mercury from directly harming humans, animals, and everything that consists of the environment.
Mercury is a naturally occurring element in the atmosphere but is reported to be harmful; Hg is known as quicksilver. This element is in liquid form but classified as metal, nonetheless at room temperature. Due to human activities, the emission of mercury becomes higher and it is known as anthropogenic. Natural emission of Mercury includes volcanic eruption, forest fires, weathering of surfaces, and aquatic emissions. The fact that elemental mercury is harmful to humans once exposed, methylmercury is historically the most toxic form of Hg. Through food consumption, humans and animals can accumulate this toxic Hg. Further studies have been made and the atmospheric chemistry of GOM, or Gaseous Oxidized Mercury, at a coastal site in Atlantic Canada is one of the world’s contributions to the prevention of harmful elements in the atmosphere. Mercury together with different elements present in the atmosphere was presented statistically and scientifically in the most accurate way possible. In the aforementioned paper provided, Gaseous Oxidized Mercury can give rise or result in the production of the most toxic toxin named methylmercury. Moreover, the location of this is free from anthropogenic. The resulted statistical data was not influenced by any human activities that produce the emission of mercury. This proves as evidence that the emission of Hg varies when it is exposed to more things that trigger it. Ther...
