Verification and validation
Verification and validation (V&V) techniques are an essential part of system development process because it assures that the system product presents characteristics such as quality, dependability and reliability in a satisfactory level in order to eliminate certain losses and risks associated with system failures. This paper provides a link to a brief article from International Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems (IJAE), Volume (3) : Issue (4) : 2012 which concerns a topic discussion on Verification and Validation in Knowledge-Based Systems (KBS) (Bindilatti, et al. 2012).
The article starts by introduction where it defines the two terminologies. Validation is the reassurance that the system product satisfies the customer needs and other stakeholders involved in the project. Verification is one of the validation activities that refers to the evaluation of whether the system product conforms to the formal requirements imposed by the client and regulations of the company and government. Validation asks whether we are developing the right product, while Verification asks whether we are developing the product right.
