Project Plan in the New World Name: Course: Tutor: Date: Project Plan in the New World Summary When one or more people are working together towards achieving a common goal, they constitute a team. A team, according to Barkley, shares resources, responsibility, and authority in order to achieve their common goal (Barkley, p.144). Project planning is necessary in achieving the goals. The plan guides the role played by each in the course of achieving the goals. Rosenwinkel’s article “Project Plan in the New World,” gives a deep insight on the purpose that a project serves, and why a team can work without it. Stevenson states that “project management differs from management of more traditional activities mainly because of its limited time framework and the unique set of activities involved, which gives rise to a host of unique problems” (p.776). Rosewinkel argues that, some projects need not necessarily to have a plan (Rosenwinkel p2). This article uses the dominant personality management style in order to justify this argument. The managers, who use this style, often misjudge the project plan, making it more irrelevant. The writer proposes project variables that one can consider in determining the complexity of a project and whether it will need a plan or not. Personal project I was a project manager of a project that involved the development of children’s home. In the initial stage, the team I was working with developed the project plan. This plan included an elaborate structural plan as, well as the budgetary allocations at each stage of its implementation. While implementing the plan, the team realized a number of challenges that made the proposed project unrealistic. Firstly, the area proposed in the plan could not provide for future expansion.
