The acousmatics of the voice
Primary argument
The reading primarily focuses on acousmatic voice and the mystery of its source. The author describes the acousmatic sound as the voice which source cannot be identified. Therefore, any sound whether manipulated or natural, can be categorized as acousmatic as long as its source is not seen or identified. The advantage of this unknown effect is that students concentrate on the voice and the knowledge emanating from it rather than being distracted by the teacher’s mode of presentation. However, if the source was to be revealed, the voice would lose meaning as the source will no longer be respected.
