The article is about a research that was conducted in order to decide whether taking of iron and folic acid supplements during pregnancy is essential. The study was conducted using 80 pregnant women who volunteered, and it was an experimental clinical intervention. The study was conducted between March 2004 and May 2005, and the participants’ pregnancies were in a range of 16th to 24th weeks. All participants were healthy and only carried one child. They were taught on balanced and adequate nutrition. the participants were divide into two groups of 40, with one group being given a diet rich in iron that was equal to taking a supplement containing 0.35 mg folic acid and 100mg Ferro III(Elmacioglu et al., 2010, p. 236).
