The introduction of victimology has increased awareness of victim's physiological effects, rights, and, most importantly, their relationship with offenders. Some reforms are underway, including therapy and protective custody for them. A lot is still pending, especially on the part of the judicial system. It is already daunting for rape victims to come out and report their perpetrators. Therefore, they should be guaranteed convictions and overall justice when they do. The essay seeks to provide a summary of the article, the literature reviewed by the author, and, most essential a critic of the work. In our view, Julie Stubbs successfully asks the right questions of the roles of the criminal justice system in responding to sexual assault, contributing to the safety of women.
In summary, 'Sexual Assault, Criminal Justice, and Law and Order' challenges the criminal justice systems. Stubbs is out to prove that criminal justice should not be the primary method to respond to sexual assaults because it is sometimes ineffective.
Stubbs comes up with five reasons that are vital for future victimology studies. The criminal justice system has very little knowledge of the different types of assaults, for example, male rape due to low reporting levels.
