Risk analysis reveals global hotspots for marine debris ingestion by sea turtles
Introduction
Marine conservation is one of the key aspects of the human world. Several environmental conservation programs have been focused mainly in preserving the marine environment. I chose an article by the title Risk analysis reveals global hotspots for marine debris ingestion by sea turtles. I chose this article with the aim of understanding some of the agents of marine pollution.
Objectives
The study aimed to conduct a risk analysis. The risk analysis aimed at revealing global hotspots for marine debris ingestion by sea turtles. The marine debris in question largely consisted of plastics. The study attempted (based on the data collected from the study) to approximate the percentage of sea turtles that ingest debris.
Methods
The study used a best fit model. The model incorporated data on exposure rates and compared it to turtle species. This was through debris mapping computed through spatial and temporal distribution of marine plastics. The data was juxtaposed against the trajectories run through the Global Drifter Program. The turtle di...
