It is worth noting that the research or study was conducted to bring to light a mechanism for adaptive phenotypic variation linked with the Y chromosomes. Additionally, it wanted to show the polymorphic phenotypic effect of Y chromosome on sex ratio, temperature sensitivity, fitness as well as behavior (Lemos Et al. 2008). Finally, it was meant to a certain the differences in genetic diversity between Drosophila species, more importantly, the study aimed at addressing the contradiction in manifold phenotypic consequences of Y-linked polymorphism that encompasses sex ratio, male fitness, heat adaptation and behavior.

The study found out that Y-chromosome polymorphism is manifested functionally as significant differences in the expression of autosomal and X-linked genes from Y chromosome to the next. Similarly, polymorphic Y-linked regulatory variation seems to be manifold, evolutionarily dynamic, sex biased towards males and influenced by variation in temperature (Lemos Et al. 2008).
