The study begins by discussing the mechanical differences between running and walking and the way humans perform well in ER compared to other animals. It seeks to evaluate what is known concerning key structural specialization in human ER capabilities and if these features evolved for bipedal walking. Lastly, it will evaluate evidence for their appearance in the records of hominid fossils. The study hypothesized that Homo evolved to cover long distances through walking and running. Second, that ER evolved for predator pursuit in early hominids.
