A service nursing bundle is a group of interventions that are meant to increase patient satisfaction and outcome. The purpose of the study was to create a positive effect on patient experiences in emergency departments using the service nursing bundle (Skaggs, et al., 2018).

Emergency departments (ED) visits in the United States are on the rise, yet the number of ED facilities keeps declining. ED use in rural areas is especially high at 448 per 1,000, while in urban areas ED use is at 324 per 1,000. This high use has affected the quality of patient experience in EDs. Also, ED leaders are expected to come up with solutions on how to provide timely and efficient care in line with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements (Skaggs, et al., 2018).

The study utilized the Kotter Change Model, which is an eight-step model effective in fast-paced environments that require quick and urgent change. Nurses were invited to participate in EPB service nursing bundle education. Phone surveys were administered to patients pre- and post-intervention. Also, 23 separate audits were acquired during the day and night shifts for the three bundle elements to assess the frequency of use(Skaggs, et al., 2018).
