The ‘Non-Pharmacological Intervention for ADHD in school settings: An Overarching Synthesis of Systematic Reviews’ is a journal that reviews different methods of intervention for kids with ADHD and their effectiveness when applied. The journal uses facts and findings to demonstrate the need for intervention when dealing with students with learning disability. Key issues that might affect the effective implementation of these methods such as stigma and the student-teacher relationships are also highlighted in the journal. Based on the readings, I find myself disturbed by a number of questions.
First and foremost, the article mentioned that there was a need to give children with ADHD self-regulation training (Moore et al., 2015). How do you as an educator think this affects their cognitive development? The qualitative review showed that students sometimes lose awareness of how they lose all behavioral control. Self-regulation helps adolescents direct their internal cognitive processes and thoughts into learning tools and not obstruction. Additionally, a recent study showed that identifying antecedents helps children develop a sense of control. In order to raise children into productive members of the community, a self-regulation training program is important.
