For this assignment in Composition II, you will start your research by writing a five-source annotated bibliography on a topic related to your course readings and our year-long theme. Because the essays in our course readings are academic texts, you can use one of those to get your research started. However, you’ll need to find four other sources from the academic databases (i.e., Academic Search complete, JSTOR, Literature Resource Center).

Writing the annotated bibliography. An annotated bibliography is a list of citations for books, articles, and other documents related to a particular subject or topic. Each citation is followed by a 200-word annotation summarizing the source’s thesis and supporting arguments.
The annotated bibliography assignment serves several purposes:
Locating sources and engaging in a close reading with a text helps you grow as a writer. It also helps you to see models of how other writers have approached the topic and structured their arguments.
The annotation summarizes the contents of the article to inform the reader of the relevance and quality of the sources cited. When collected, these annotations can serve as a “research log.”
The annotated bibliography is also an opportunity for you to evaluate the quality and breadth of the research you’ve acquired. In other words, if you have five articles with little more than the same biographical information, then you know that you will need to do more research to find sources that offer more in-depth and robust analysis. In this case, your research is much too limited in scope, and you need to revisit the databases to more diverse Scholarship.
Completing an annotated bibliography of existing research is a fundamental component of writing an academic research essay.
For this assignment, you might also consider some of the following questions:
What similarities do you see presented in the readings? What subtle differences do you observe?
How do the writers develop their arguments? In other words, what evidence do the writers use to support their arguments?
What strategies do the writers use to make their arguments persuasive? Are they persuasive?

Gender bias is a challenge at workplace especially in hiring of employees. Therefore, leaders and managers need to be confident, assertive and dominant in selection of employees regardless of their ethnic background, gender, religion or socio-economic backgrounds. Nevertheless, such attributes fall short to many employers as majority view some attributes and responsibilities to be more aligned to men than women leading to gender bias at workplace. Thus, gender bias is at workplace is a problem with evidences indicating that majority of employees in numerous enterprises are men and such enterprises become tense, exhibit low productivity and frequent lawsuits. Kathleen conducted a research on how the scientific community confronts gender bias in workplace in 2019.
