In this study, Hena Jawaid and Tania Nadeem mention that schizophrenia is one of the most complicated mental disorders; it impacts a large number of adolescents on a yearly basis. Researchers got hundreds of children involved in their research and found that most of them showed strange behavior. The limit of this study is that it does not talk about how distorted thinking and unusual feelings take place in adolescents with schizophrenia and how they have problems with speaking. In some parts of the world, schizophrenia is considered a hereditary illness. There are a large number of contributing factors (environmental and genetic). In thousands of adolescents or children, schizophrenia is caused due to abnormal combinations of genes.

According to Akira Sawa, Minae Niwa, and Richard Lee, there is not a single cause for schizophrenia. For example, in some adolescents, it is caused due to chemical imbalances in the brain which may or may not be inherited. The study included children aging from 1 to 3 year old who had schizophrenia and showed varying behavioral changes with time. Schizophrenia affects both boys and girls, and the limit of this study is that it does not shed light on how it is more common boys than girls. When the disease is active, it can be easily characterized by episodes in which the child or adult fails to distinguish between real and unreal events of experiences.
