Annotated Bibliography and Outline Leadership Behavior

Annotated Bibliography Instructions:

Synthesis is the process of creating a new idea by analyzing multiple disparate concepts or notions to discern the common thematic or connecting principles among them. Synthesis of research is a process learned through time and practice. In this assignment, you will engage in the first parts of the synthesis process: annotating and outlining.
General Requirements:
Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:
Review the journal articles assigned in the modules 4 and 5 of this course.
Refer to "Empirical Research Checklist" located in the topic materials for this module to guide your selection of an empirical article.
This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center.
Refer to the resource, "Preparing Annotated Bibliographies," located in the Student Success Center, for additional guidance on completing this assignment in the appropriate style.
You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. Refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.
Directions:
Provide an annotated bibliography (750-1,000 words total) of two of the assigned journal articles from modules 4 and 5 of this course and one additional topically-related, empirical article of your choosing. Include the following for each article:
The article citation and persistent link. These are not included in the total word count. Be sure to verify the accuracy of the reference formatting as these can change during the insertion process.
A written summary of the key concept(s) of the article. Why was the study done? What was the population studied? What did the researcher(s) conclude? What other information about this study do you believe is unique or important to recall? Are there specific statements made by the author that you wish to retain?
Construct an outline for a paper that will explain and synthesize the articles you read for this assignment with at least two additional, topically-related, empirical articles that you will select. The paper will require identification of themes common to all of the articles as well as a statement of the conclusions that can be drawn when the articles are taken together as a single entity. You will be writing the paper in the next assignment
READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS VERY, VERY CAREFULLY AS THEY DIFFER SLIGHTLY FROM THE MODULE 2 ASSIGNMENT! THE THEME OF YOUR MODULE 7 PAPER IS LEADERSHIP BEHAVIOR. TO THAT END, YOUR THEMES IN YOUR OUTLINE SHOULD BE VERY SPECIFIC LEADERSHIP BEHAVIORS (i.e. inspirational, innovation, ethical, etc.)

Within Module 5 you will be constructing an annotated bibliography and outline similar to the Module 2 assignment. Within this assignment you must choose 2 articles from the readings from Modules 4 and 5 and include one additional topically-related, empirical article of your choosing and provide 250-350 annotations for each of the three articles.
Remember, choose 2 of the articles below and include one additional topically related empirical article that you have chosen through your own research to include within the annotation portion of the assignment. Just as in the Module 2 assignment, you will add 2 additional articles of your choosing while writing your Module 7 paper. These additional 2 articles do not need to be included within the annotation but may be if you so choose.
The following articles are the required readings from Modules 4 and 5 that can be used for 2 of the annotations

The second part of the assignment is to write an outline for a paper that will explain and synthesize those three articles. This paper will be written in Module 7, and it will explore the three themes common to all three articles, as well as a statement of the conclusions that can be drawn after considering all three articles together. You are not identifying the theme of each article; rather, you are identifying THREE common themes that exist in ALL of the articles. Additionally, you are asked to find TWO additional articles OUTSIDE of the required class readings from your OWN research in the GCU to support the themes you have identified. These additional 2 articles should be empirical research but do not need to be included within your annotation; however, they should be noted and represented within your outline in support of your themes.
The following are NOT themes that you should use – leadership, leadership traits, leadership behaviors, Transformational Leadership, Transactional Leadership, LMX Theory, Servant Leadership, or any other leadership theory. You need to focus specifically on BEHAVIORS (for example – creativity, trustworthy, inspiring, innovative, committed, listening, etc.)
IF YOU DO NOT SUBMIT BOTH PORTIONS OF THE ASSIGNMENT, YOU WILL NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO RESUBMIT THE MISSING PORTION. YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO ON THAT PORTION OF THE ASSIGNMENT.

Hayyat Malik, S. (2012). A Study of Relationship between Leader Behaviors and Subordinate
Job Expectancies: A Path-Goal Approach. Pakistan Journal of Commerce and Social Sciences. 6 (2), 357-371.
The author was investigating the relationship between leadership skills in management and employees’ expectations using the path-goal model of leadership. The author talks about different factors which should be addressed appropriately by the leaders of organizations to achieve the vision and goals set by the company. Competitive leaders aim to reduce role ambiguity, stress, and clarifies better task structures in the firm. Participative leadership skills are important as employees emulate what leaders offer them as well as set standards that are supposed to be achieved in the firm. Directive leaders, on the other hand, are important in influencing employees with high expectancy when clarification of the vision of the company is achieved.
The study was done to find out the relationship between the types of leadership structure, in this case, directive and workers' achievements using the path-goal model. The study needed to establish how employees can be motivated by leaders in organizations by increasing their autonomy, reducing factors such as stress and depression because of task assignments, and use of both directive and participatory style of leadership in the company. The population studied included supervisors, middle managers, and employees from cellular companies. The predictors that were used in this population were gender, age, qualification, experience, and rank to avoid bias. The researcher’s conclusion was that a leader’s behavior affects subordinates’ job expectancy, which means that this can be used to predict employees work expectations. Some uniqueness of the study was that age, gender, and qualification are not directly linked to influence job expectancy of employees. One of the specific statements to remember was that “the situation in which job is done and the people cannot be separated.” This is important as leaders should be focused on improving their working environment for employees to be comfortable for better results.
Niu, X, Wang, X., & Hanyu, X. (2018). What Motivates Environmental Leadership
Behavior: An Empirical Analysis in Taiwan. Journal of Asian Public Policy. 11 (2), 173-187
The article discusses factors that administrative leaders possess that makes their employees motivated to carry out their mandate in the company and how motivation works in different organizational contexts. The study was done to establish the relationship between situational leadership aspects in public management, an aspect that the author felt is hardly studied in management. Intrinsic normative reasons such as sustainability and extrinsic causes such as legal compliance led to leaders acting differently. These factors made it hard for the leaders to be creative and help the government to come up with policies that can improve governmental management policies. The study established that some leaders in government put thei...
