Annotated Bibliography Instructions:

I would like to see your initial working bibliography up to this point in the term. The difference between a reference page, works cited, or what one puts in a footnote and a bibliography is scope. The former are all sources that one has cherry-picked and decided to use in some manner directly in the paper.
The bibliography represents the total research effort, and includes corroborating sources, sources that are relevant to the topic that you perused but did not use, or other key documents relative to the overall paper that may have had any influence on your choices and your prose. While there is no magic numbers, my rule of thumb is a good paper generally will have at a 2+:1 ratio between what one has in the bibliography and what one cites in the paper.
I don’t set limits as this is not a real world skill. But I do have graduate expectations. For a paper that will have to have some depth, just a few sources is going to be inadequate, so don’t limit yourself, but at the same time don’t pad or add fluff just to add numbers.
This can be an annotated bibliography, or just an alphabetical listing of your research to date. It is your choice.

In this book, the authors present different theories about leadership and how each is applied at the functional level by leaders. They evaluate these strengths and weaknesses and argue whether a leader is in his right to choose from the most flexible to the most rigid of principles or should he let business situations and circumstances dictate the most suitable principles. This book is one of the five central sources that will be used to draw inferences about Gates' leadership, and it helps by highlighting key differentiating elements between theories, such as behavioral theory and contingent theory, and why and how different leaders reason for their stance on any matter on the back of these elements. Furthermore, team member satisfaction and turnover concepts are also linked in the book to leadership theories; hence, it helps to understand how Gates has maintained such a motivated workforce.

In this article, the authors paint a background to each leadership style, such as transactional and transformational styles, and, based on that, discuss what works and what does not. For example, Gates is known for empowering his employees, and his style is considered a participative one. Hence, through this article, an understanding builds about how Gates might have been led to adopt such a style. Most likely, the early start of his career as a software architect played a role. This early start taught him that he could not accomplish all by himself, and he should stay humble to keep learning. This article will validate this argument and propose reasons as to why such a style can be beneficial in an organization.

In this article, Levine (p. 4) explains how leaders grow within societies by giving something back to them. In other words, there is a strong correlation between leaders' ability to stay in top positions and doing philanthropic work. Therefore, any work of charity that leaders do puts them in public eyes and makes a case of leadership in their favor. Furthermore, as Levine (p. 6) explains, another angle to look at is that leaders make their wealth and fortune through these societies; hence, they have a responsibility to give back. Therefore, this article helps by explaining how Gates' philanthropic work, especially in Africa, has created and shaped his public persona; plus, how his growing wealth determines the level of social responsibility expected from him.
