Immigration Policy in US: Job and Better Living Standards (Scholarship Essay Sample)
Legislation, in the form of the Legal Immigration and Family Equity Act of 2000 allowed undocumented individuals to apply for legal permanent resident status. Although immigration policy has changed drastically since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC, the large number of immigrants entering legally and illegally has resulted in ongoing debates over immigration policy.
Should immigrants be admitted to enter the United States under special circumstances, such as family preferences, employer preferences, refugee or asylum status, etc? Why or Why not? What are the pros and cons to granting a limited number of legal permanent resident statuses to documented immigrants?

The adverse world economies have necessitated people to migrate into the United States to seek for jobs and better living standards. These people, include, expatriate nurses who come into the United States to offer healthcare services in the US health system which is characterized by decreased number of professionals. Apart from helping the US resident's receive better and high quality health services, they also contribute to the US economy through taxation and other economic activities that contribute to the national budget CITATION Dem09 \l 1033 (Demetrios & Aaron, 2009). Also, such employees who come to work in the United States should be allowed to come with their families into the US. This is essential because they will not have to leave work to go and see their families in their native countries. It enhances easy family management issues and results to the employees undergoing lesser stress to manage their families. This factor is very essential as the employees will be able to concentrate and produce more unlike when they are under family management stresses. Therefore, it's necessary to allow such people to come into the US under special circumstances.
