Describe a time when you made a meaningful contribution to others in which the greater good was your focus.
I have always loved to make meaningful contributions whenever I get a chance to do so. It is so fulfilling to be involved in activities that benefit other people even if I don’t get benefits myself. When I see the lives of other people touched and transformed, it gives me a sense of purpose and meaning. I remember this particular time when I made a meaningful contribution to others in which the greater good was my main focus. Last year, I visited three juvenile detention centers within a week with my main purpose being to encourage and inspire the detainees.
I love motivating young people to chase their dreams and not to stop for anything. Since my parents knew that I love to speak to young people about life and to motivate them to follow their dreams to the fullest, they allowed me to dedicate a whole week to visit the juvenile centers to give hope to the young detainees. During this time, I was having group sessions and also personal sessions with the detainees whereby I spoke to them about many issues concerning life including career, personal development, mentorship, leadership, and how to turn their lives around. I spent quality time with the detainees because I knew that there was something special in their lives. I was able to encourage and challenge them to turn their lives around by moving away from criminal activities. Most of the detainees were very discouraged and almost giving up on life.
