My name is Jiayihan and I have always dreamt of becoming a fashion designer since my childhood, especially an internationally acclaimed one. For a long time, my community has faced a lot of challenges with no recognized fashion designer due to lack of interest that has seen the community lag behind in fashion. I do not recount any one individual who has come from the community and made any significant fashion contribution. Therefore, I’m interested in pursuing fashion design course with the aim of becoming the first within my community to help them improve their fashion and put them within the global map in the fashion world.
After I graduated from high school, I joined a fashion design company where I worked for three years to gain experience on how the fashion design industry works. During the period, I got an opportunity to visit other companies that deal in fashion design and I was able to talk with some of the most talked about designers and I got to understand the nitty-gritties of fashion design. The experience I gathered will help me establishing the foundation needed to make it further in fashion design.
Apart from learning fashion design for three years, my high school: Quincy High School offered various trips to top fashion design companies. During the time, I enrolled in several fashion design clubs and I had the opportunity to attend almost all of the trips.
