Nursing is an extremely demanding job that entails taking care of not only the sick, but also their families and the community to improve on their lives, in an approach that is distinct from that of the doctors. Most nurses offer the care of a physician, however, some nurses have undergone more training in specialized treatment, and currently nurses are of a conglomerate of variants depending on their level of education or expertise (Ferguson, 2006). Nurses could work in collaboration with specialized physicians, doctors, or therapists or independently for the more professional ones.
My interest from marketing to nursing was driven by solemn circumstance of loss of my family members. My father fell ill and succumbed to kidney failure whereas my mother followed with pancreatic cancer. I had to assume the role of a nurse at home and offer them palliative care since we could not afford the expensive treatment (Donahue & Patricia, 2010).
