Professionalism is one of the most discussed topics in health care literature. Research done on the topic has shown that close to half of all nurses are less professional than they seem. While other fields consider professionalism as competency, the health care department defines it as the manner in which people behave depending on different contexts. In this context, professionalism is defined as the manner in which nurses behave depending on the group, or the individual that they are dealing with. A health care worker can, therefore, be said to be professional if they approach every workplace issue individually instead of trying to apply universal solutions to every issue.
