The study of financial mathematics requires rare fervor, knack and unparalleled passion for numbers. It’s a lonely path that is less travelled as most students seldom choose this path due to a presumption that it’s a highly complex endeavor. Nevertheless, my greatest motivation for applying for a financial mathematics program was borne out of my childhood dream of working for a financial institution. More so, the work of financial analysts and investment bankers interested me the most. My career journey began back in my elementary years when I developed passion for mathematics. It’s against this backdrop that I chose to pursue a program that combines two disciplines that are revered and fretted in equal measure. Financial mathematics entails interpretation and deduction of complex financial data and information for purposes of enhanced decision making, planning and strategy formulation. A financial mathematics degree program will better equip and prepare me for a career in financial investment, banking or other related field.
I have always had passion for numbers since the days I was a little boy. I am therefore banking on this to give me a head-start in the study of financial mathematics. Besides, my solid mathematical background from high school will give me an advantage over other applicants who might have a weak mathematical background. I plan to capitalize on this incentive to maintain a good GPA mean score right from the freshman level. My business studies background further accords me a unique advantage as I currently possess basic business mathematical skills. This will be the foundation upon which I will build my college financial mathematics knowledge.
