Abstract
OCD has existed even before the 20th century. It impacts all people irrespective of age, social status, and race though men are highly vulnerable than women. OCD, formerly known as scrupulosity, relates to compulsive obsessive behaviors that stress their daily lives and activities. For individuals to be diagnosed with OCD, they must experience compulsions and obsessions such as washing hands repeatedly, cleaning the compound abnormally, and many other obsessions.
The History of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders
The infection was previously known as “Obsessive-Compulsive Neurosis”. OCD is a noticeable infection and can be marked out historically transversely to a wide-ranging social range (Campbell & Longhurst, 2013). Interestingly, OCD does not restrict itself to any individual. Evidence express various instances of OCD-type symptoms in many people’s lives throughout the ages. Individuals experiencing obsessions and compulsions have existed for many years. The term OCD did not exist until the 20th century. But before the 20th century, it was known as scrupulosity, a modern-day psychological issue echoing the traditional application of ‘scruples’ in a religious framework, to mean obsessive apprehension with an individual’s sins and obsessive practice religious devotion (Sue et al., 2016). In earlier centuries, the term scruples incorporated all obsession types and compulsions. OCD can lead to low academic outcomes and stressful relationships because the victim needs specula care and attention. 
Literature Review
Psychological Theory relating to OCD
Psychoanalysis theory is highly related to OCD (Marker, 2014). In the anal stage, an infant’s attention is channeled to anal stimulation incorporating the bowel and bladder. The anal stimulation is achieved when the infant controls their excretory functions. The Theory presents a conducive time for the infant to learn to use the toilet. Sigmund Friend argues that children facing conflict during the anal stage may grow anal personality traits such as stubbornness and orderliness (Marker, 2014). The children continuing with anal characteristics into adulthood become anal-retentive, and those rejecting anal characteristics become anal expulsive. Individuals with compulsive obsessive behaviors become very interested in cleanliness, such as washing hands repeatedly after visiting a washroom. 
Age of Onset
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) usually starts before 25 years and often in childhood or adolescence. The mean age of onset for people seeking medical intervention appears more in men than females.
Diagnostic Criteria
A professional mental health provider can execute an OCD diagnosis.
