Legalizing same-sex marriage in Canada
Two opposing viewpoints of homosexuality have created tensions in the Canadian society. There are those people who maintain, on account of equality, that distinction should not be drawn in any way between heterosexual and homosexual relationships. On the other hand, other people are against homosexuality for religious, moral, medical and/or practical reasons. The no distinction view of homosexuality has dominated for the most part due to the decisions of human rights panellists and judges. It was basing on this that the legalization of same-sex marriages was made (Bowal & Campbell, 2010). Thesis statement: the government of Canada was right in legalizing same-sex marriage since same-sex couples want to get married for similar reasons that heterosexual couples want to marry, for instance celebration of commitment, rite of passage, and love. Same-sex couples also have the basic human right to get married.

A lot of same-sex couples have been together for several years. Therefore, it is important that their relationship is recognized officially if they so wish (Rose, 2012).
Love: in general, love is something that needs to be celebrated considering that it actually enhances and enriches the lives of people. If 2 persons choose to stand up in front of a number of witnesses and have the love which they have between them recognized by the law, they should be allowed to do so. The world is typified by too much cruelty. As such, love has to be encouraged and admired. Acceptance of diverse people: important qualities that relate to the subject of accepting homosexual marriages are Peace, Love and Tolerance. Supporting same-sex marriages is essentially an indication of true acceptance of persons in all their diversities (Allen & Price, 2015).
We are who we are: a person does not choose his or her sexuality. Moreover, sexuality is not something which any person should be made to feel ashamed of. Couples of the same sex have the right to marry given that they are who they are and there is really nothing wrong with this whatsoever. Gay couples who seek rights to marry are without doubt determined to stay together, otherwise they would not be trying to marry (Harper & Breathitt, 2015). Therefore, their lives shou...
