In C&C III we will be exploring and building an understanding of persuasion and influence as well as learning skills, tools, and experience sets for strategic influence and mastering rhetoric
This assignment requires you to choose an aspect of Hult Student Life and consider how to influence without force as outlined in A Practitioner’s Guide to Nudging by Ly et al.
“A nudge is any aspect of the choice architecture that alters people’s behaviour in a predictable way without forbidding any options or significantly changing their eco- nomic consequences. To count as a mere nudge, the intervention must be easy and cheap to avoid. Nudges are not mandates. Putting fruit at eye level [to attract attention and hence increase likelihood of getting chosen] counts as a nudge. Banning junk food does not.”

In this assignment, you will consider the student experience at Hult both academic and social and identify one aspect of this experience that can be improved on. You will make a recommendation about how to use choice architecture to achieve changes in behavior without force. The essence of nudging it to either encourage people to begin to do the things that make their lives better or to chose to stop doing the things that do not improve (or actually make worse) the quality of lived experience. Write your recommendation as though it were to your Program Dean.

Map The Context: An Identified Challenge - Reflect on your experience as a student and think about the kinds of things that didn’t work as well as they could have, or that had more potential than was realized, or that lacked compliance where it was required. As you found in your reading of “A Practitioner's Guide to Boosting” you should consider these elements to conduct your analysis.

Be sure to identify the GAP between what is the current behavior and what you want the new behavior to be. Some examples of areas are around; the physical environment at school, study habits, self-care (diet, exercise, sleep etc.), complying with deadlines, following rules of Academic Conduct etc. The reading has many good examples.
Identify Suitable Nudges Analysis -- How can you work with the choice architecture of students to encourage the kinds of behaviors that would improve student experience.
Identify Levers for Nudging – Develop a view of what situations or opportunities present themselves as clear areas to implement the nudges and what might be possible barriers or constraints to implementing those nudges. Consider the Cialdini Priniciples that might be helpful.
Conclusion and Measures of Success – How will this (if successful) be able to be measured and validated. How would you start as a pilot.

During my experience as a business student at Hult International Business School, the most significant problem which impacted my academic and social life was the recurrence of decision fatigue. Decision fatigue is a specific challenge that a student of business studies encounters, as it involves making multiple decisions in a limited period of time (Entrepreneur, 2015). Studying business at an international level university is a daunting task, as students have to learn multiple and varied subjects at the same time; during my studies, I had to study a wide range of subjects, especially accounting and finance, business strategy, marketing and sales, and supply chain management. This multidisciplinary approach put a real onus on me, and I experience decision fatigue at the academic level, characterized by my inability to make appropriate and timely decisions related to the effective learning of these disciplines. In addition to academic decision fatigue, I also experienced social or non-academic decision fatigue since I had to make several small but significant decisions in my daily life which I could not manage properly. These decisions included choosing the proper outfit and breakfast menu and managing extra-curricular activities. To resolve my problem, I had to use different techniques to manage self-restraint while choosing between playing and studying; moreover, I should have learned how to avoid engagement in self-imposed choices to avoid too much focus on a particular task and compromising others. Thus, my learning experience at Hult International Business School is significantly impacted by this decision fatigue as I cannot allocate proper time to multiple subjects; additionally, my inability to manage my routine chore and works further adds stress. Instead of using an appropriate study schedule and making appropriate decisions regarding my daily routine, I find myself highly stressed and unable to make apt and timely decisions; as a result, I am unable to comply with my academic deadlines. Besides, my decision fatigue has deteriorated my self-care plan as my diet, sleep, and exercise suffer from abnormality.
Nudge Analysis
In psychology and social sciences, the term "nudge" refers to a set of interventions that can be used to resolve behavioral issues in various social, academic, and other aspects of a person's life by guiding him (Meyer & Page, 2022; Thaler and Sunstein 2008, p.6). A nudge is not a mandatory remedy; instead, it brings about positive change in behavior without forcing people to change their lifestyle completely. The intention-action gap in academic and social routines is one of the negative implications of decision fatigue that students at Hult might experience. Thus, a possible nudge to influence behavioral architecture is offering a set of guiding principles directing students to make a checklist to carry out daily tasks in an orderly manner.
