Jerome Kern was a renowned musical theatre composer and was born in the year 1885 in the New York City. His initial involvement with music came through his mother who taught him to play the organ and piano after she realized that her son had an enormous aptitude for music. Jerome’s father wanted his son to join him in the family business nonetheless Jerome was utterly ingrained in music, and therefore it became quite a herculean task for him to perform well in the family’s business. When Jerome’s father realized that he could do nothing about his son’s love for music he decided to support him and therefore took him to New York College of Music where he could receive musical training and theatrical experience. After his college life, he worked in many music publishers as a pianist and a salesperson but he, later on, became the vice president of U.S. music publishing company. Jerome incredibly grew in his career and became one of the most adored composers of music for the theatre.
