The research Project Proposal is a summative assessment (worth 30% of the unit grade), 1,350-1650 words in length. It is a written document, detailing the plan for the proposed research project.
To develop your research plan, you must use and reference a research methods book from the library, e.g., Bryman, Alan, Bell, Emma (2015) Business research methods:
Oxford, United Kingdom: Oxford University Press (physical copies in the library) or Bell, J. and Waters, S. (2018). Doing your research project : a guide for first-time researchers. London Mcgraw Hill Education. (e-book available through the library).
RESEARCH PROJECT PROPOSAL FORMAT
Word count 1,500 word (excluding Bibliography and Appendices) with +/- 10%
1. Provisional Project Title – Provide a title that reflects the topic identified (max 20 words). Project Title is not included in your word count.
2. Aims and Objectives – Develop clear statements of research aims and objectives of the project (max 100 words).
3. Background to the research project – Discuss the context in which the research project is set. What is the rationale for this research? What is the need for it? What makes it important? How is it relevant? What are the key issues? To whom will it be useful (i.e., who are the beneficiaries)?
4. Literature Review – Critically review relevant literature. Who has written about your topic before? Discuss the authors’ key ideas and analyse how the authors’ ideas help you understand the chosen topic better. Which methods did they use to study it? How reliable are their findings?
5. Methodology – Explain your research methodology, with research method(s) justified in relation to research aims and objectives. Discuss your choice of methodological approach will from both a theoretical (what ideally would you like to do) and practical (what in practice you are able to do) perspective. Provide an indicative project timeline/plan that supports your research design.
6. Research Ethics – Evidence your understanding of ethical considerations associated with your project.
7. References – provide an accurate and relevant list of references. References are not included in your word count.

It enjoys a large consumer base owing to its global appeal and influence on how people put on their clothes, apply their makeup, and style up their hair. In essence, the fashion industry plays a significant role of shaping people’s lives in society through its strong influence on society’s perception of beauty or a perceived appealing mode of dressing. However, quest to maintain the fashion appeal and influence on society often creates an unspoken pressure and anxiety on some of the key players in the fashion industry. Photographers, models, and stylists face long working hours during photoshoot sessions in their studios or runways during fashion weeks or at major launches by the leading fashion companies. The pressure imposed on models to maintain a certain perceived appealing look and body form by the clothing designers coupled with the long photoshoot sessions tend to create stress and other anxiety disorders on the supermodels. The surmounting pressure has an overall effect of widespread use of drugs and prescription medicine among members of the fashion industry leading to undesired outcomes on the industry and society at large. Aims and Objectives
This research project seeks to investigate the scope of drug use in the fashion industry.
