Part A: Needs Statement
A needs statements persuades the reader that your program is meeting a need. It does this by using research to show a problem exists, that it’s imperative that the problem be addressed, and that your program is addressing the problem in the best way possible.
Write a 1-2 page explanation of the current state of the problem you are trying to address. Use at least 5 bits of information from at least 3 sources you researched to back up your claims. For instance, describe how prevalent the problem is, what affects it has on people/society, or why is it necessary that we address this issue. Weave in information from your research (data, quotations, anecdotes, etc.) that validates your claims about the need. Conclude with a description of how your program will address the need and include any research that supports that claim. Make sure your needs statement includes:
o At least 5 quotations, data, or statistics from current, credible sources that shed light on the problem, population, or proposed solution
o A description of the population to be served and how this population will benefit from the proposed intervention/program
o At least 3 visual representations of this issue (with citations of the sources they come from) for example:
 Chart
 Graph
 Infographic
o 5 credible, current sources are used to back up claims. Citations follow APA both in text and in the reference page.
 **make sure you include dates in all your references. i.e. “n.d.” needs to be updated manually.
Part B: Collaboration Summary
It’s important to inform potential funders that you have a “deep bench” when it comes to getting the job done. This is done in by describing inter-organizational collaboration and requesting letters of support from your collaborators. Use the research you’ve done on your organization to create a mind map that details their community partnerships. Use that information to complete the following:
Write 1-2 paragraphs that describe your organization’s community partnerships and collaboration. Make sure the paragraphs include the following information:
a. Each partner organization’s roles, responsibilities, activities, for example:
i. How will they identify and refer participants?
ii. Who will handle training?
iii. What other support will be provided? By whom?
b. How collaborating organizations will coordinate cooperation, for example:
i. Who is the lead organization?
ii. How will organizations communicate?
iii. What will smaller organizations contribute?
Part C: Letter of Support
When asking for a letter of support it’s important to provide some talking points for the person to work off of.
Sketch out a draft you could use to request a letter of support request. This draft should be about 1 page long. Use the following guidelines to write your draft:
o Date the letter and start it with “Dear ___”
 choose to address the letter to someone who could really advocate for your program
o Write 1 paragraph that describes the need and why your program is important.
 End that paragraph by asking the person to write a letter of support to the funder.
o Then, include a bullet pointed list of talking points that the letter writer could use to you write you a letter of support.
o Conclude with a paragraph sharing deadline details, giving information about how they can share their letter with your, and thanking them for their time and support.

A Brother Connection Program aimed at Black MSM (Men who have Sex with Men) Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Positive
Part A
The HIV/AIDS epidemic has profoundly impacted the back community in the U.S. After approximately 40 years of describing initially Human Immunodeficiency Virus in MSM in the United States, the community globally is facing newly documented and re-emerging HIV epidemics in men who have sex with men (MSM). Why? In 2016, black men accounted for 43% of new HIV diagnoses, comprising only 12% of the U.S. population. This discrepancy is even more pronounced among black MSM, who accounted for 70 percent of new Human Immunodeficiency Virus diagnoses among black men in the year 2016. Furthermore, the 2019 statistics, probably among the latest ones, show that men who have sex with men (MSM) accounted for 44% of new Human Immunodeficiency Virus infections in Asia, and the Pacific. In the U.S., it accounted for 69% of new Human Immunodeficiency Virus diagnoses.
According to the research, the figure below shows statistics which were done by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The data mainly focuses on Human Immunodeficiency Virus in Bisexual, Gay, and MSM. The data further shows data analysis for various age groups.

From figure 1 above, the largest number from the year 2014 through 2018 in the United States and Dependent areas on HIV infection attributed to same sex sexual contact was among men who have sex with men (MSM) aged 25-34 years (Fig. 1). According to the table, 6% increment in the diagnosis among the MSM aged 24 up to 35 years according to CDC statistics. Additionally, the figure below shows statistics of how the MSM were highly affected in the year 2020.

Furthermore, it is sad that the effects of HIV/AIDS among black MSM are numerous and far-reaching. This population is already at a higher risk for HIV infection due to several factors, including homophobia, poverty, and racism. The combination of these factors creates a perfect storm for the spread of HIV (Duncan, 2019). One of the most immediate effects of HIV/AIDS among black MSM is the increased risk for other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) because commonly unprotected sex is common in MSM. Secondly, there is a higher risk for mental health problems among MSM (Tan, 2019). This population is already at higher risk for anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders. Finally, the financi...
