Abstract
The connection between screen time and mental health has evolved into a topic of uttermost relevance in an era where screens are practically limitless, particularly in the setting of developing children. The study aims to ascertain the effects of excessive screen time on children's mental health concerning the nature of their screen time, their mental and physical wellness, and their awareness of and attitude toward the risks associated with screen time. The participants in this study are both online and modular students, as determined by Stratified Random Sampling. As their data collection platform, Google Forms enables the researchers to design and disseminate the survey questionnaire using a quantitative approach. The qualitative technique employed ethnography methodology to broaden the comprehension of screen time and inform others that this issue continues to exist for far too long and needs a greater focus. The expanding technology and the pandemic period are the main reasons for the respondents' increased screen time, and they are mindful of its negative health impacts. Compared to modular students, online students used more digital gadgets, had bad sleep patterns, had lower self-esteem, and were more vulnerable to stress. Compared to modular students, modular students have poor posture and inferior cognitive abilities. The participants reported headaches and eye strain from screen usage, regardless of modality. Their communication abilities and weight were affected by their screen time. They additionally adopt screen time limits, technology-free bedrooms, frequent breaks, and other strategies to lessen the negative effects of screen time.
