The paper intends to examine the positive and negative impacts of both war and peace on international assistance in Nigeria. Besides, it plans to investigate the measures that the leader of Nigeria has taken through the use of external help to solve the challenges caused by the war in Nigeria. Additionally, it will discuss the usefulness of extension of donations as a way of decreasing poverty and the occurrence of war in Nigeria. War and peace have an impact on the amount of foreign aid that Nigeria receives because it determines the stability and success of the nation.

One of the positive effects of peace in Nigeria is that it will enable the nation to receive donations and foreign aid. Developing countries and other donors like IMF and World Bank can give Nigeria funds for infrastructural development. For instance, it can get funds from donors for the construction of roads, hospitals and schools to improve the welfare of its citizens. Long-lasting peace is likely to increase the amount of foreign aid that Nigeria will receive from donors. It is because there will be no need of imposing sanctions in a nation that is experiencing peace. Additionally, the donors will have an ample time to come and inspect their projects financed by money originating from their donations (Orleck & Hazirjian, 2011). At times, peace can limit the amount of foreign aid that Nigeria receives. Some of the developing nations and other donors might commit their funds to countries experiencing political turmoil and leave out peaceful nations. They will give their donations to these countries because of the necessity of ending the war in these countries. As a result, Nigeria might not receive any gifts if it is peaceful.
On the other hand, war has an impact on the donations that Nigeria receives from the donors. It is likely to reduce the amount of foreign aid that Nigeria gets from the donors. It is a common phenomenon among the countries experiencing war across the globe. Foreign/developing nations impose sanctions on the governments suffering from conflict.
