Looking for Jiro Onuma; Times and Tribulations
The two articles explores deeply into the life and tribulations of Jiro Onuma, who was a Japanese-American gay immigrant. Jane Roberts was an artist who tried to raise concerns about the discrimination that the immigrants faced in the prisons through her artistic works. Most of the gay inmates were treated unjustly in the prison camps due to their sexual behaviors which the country’s authorities considered inhuman (Roberts 2012). I wish to note that, in a noble society, it is unjust to subject an individual to discrimination just because of their perception of issues, race or behavior. In a conversation with Takemoto, the author (Jane Roberts) points that this kind of discrimination led to the isolation and depression of the immigrant prisoners during World War II.
Tina in her book (Looking for Jiro Onuma) argues that she began to learn about the mistreatment of the gay prisoners in America after she looked at Onuma’s photographs.
