Meta, formerly known as Facebook has been on the spotlight, due to its failure to protect the consumers’ privacy. Facebook was alleged to violate its privacy promises by allowing third parties to access its users’ private data hence failing to protect their privacy. The company failed to safeguard its users’ data, misleading users about how their data is being used and mishandling their personal information by allowing app developers to access and use consumers’ private data (Reichert, 2023). In this saga, the victims were the platform’s users whose privacy was compromised.
