This I Believe, Inc., is a not-for-profit organization that engages youth and adults from all walks of life in writing, sharing, and discussing brief essays about the core values that guide their daily lives. After listening to (or reading) Karen Sheehan\'s \"Growing Up in a Military Family,\" write a well-organized and well-supported essay, in which you respond to the following: What do you believe in? What are the life lessons that you affirm and believe in? A well-organized essay has a beginning, middle, and an end. The last sentence of the introduction is the thesis statement. The thesis states the main point of the essay, which in this case, would be \"I believe...\" A well-supported essay includes supporting points, details, and examples. For this essay, you must decide the best way to organize the body of the paper. However you decide to organize your essay, each body paragraph must support (explain) your belief. Each body paragraph must have a topic sentence that states the main point of the paragraph. The conclusion typically summarizes the main points of the essay and closes the essay with a lasting impression. Be sure to proofread your essay and edit for proper grammar, punctuation, diction (word choice), and spelling, as errors in sentence skills will lower a final grade. A grade will be determined based on the Module 1 SLP expectations and Trident University General Education rubric for English. Papers must be double-spaced in Times or Times New Roman font (12 cpi) with standard one-inch margins. For this module\'s SLP, you may obviously write in the first person \"I,\" though it is not used in a formal essay. Still, avoid using \"you.\" In place of \"you,\" \"one\" may be used. SLP Assignment Expectations •Write an informative essay (no less than three pages in length) that states what you believe in... the life lessons you profess. •Include an introductory paragraph with thesis statement. •Include body paragraphs (each with a topic sentence that states the point of the paragraph) that support the thesis through examples and details. •Include a conclusion that summarizes the main points of the essay. •Proofread your essay for errors in grammar, diction (word choice), punctuation, and spelling.

Wood Groove is a calm and otherwise, lovely place to bring up one’s children. There are lush greens right next to the pavement stretching close to a 600 hundred yards on either side of the feeder road that leads to the various gates of the residential homes. Trees along the side of the road right next to the fences are so beautiful in summer, with flowers of all colors that bring an aura of peace and tranquility. Except for the two high bumps on the road stretching on to the main street, it feels like the perfect neighborhood and I would want to live here forever, if that were remotely possible.
It is one early in the morning in summer, and I am seated at the balcony overlooking the yard behind the house. I always come to the balcony most of the mornings in summers to see the sunrise and feel the energy and bliss it brings with it. The sun is halfway risen on the horizon when, suddenly there is a disruption from the adjacent yard with sounds of falling objects, smashing and a faint argument between two people is becoming apparent. After a short while in silence, Jane, a mother of three comes to the yard in her white flowing robes. Her feet are bare and she is holding in her hand what looks like a mobile handset. Immediately behind, Tommy comes to the yard and his face looks murderous. He just stretches his left and bellows, “Bring back my phone”. Infuriated, Jane harshly enquires who was on the phone and why they called in the morning asking about last night. In a short while, the argument escalates and I can hardly hear what they are saying, my mind just wanders off into some dark place. Suddenly, there is the sound of a baby crying calling their mother telling her to stop. The sound of a baby crying is startling and for a moment my heart is racing. Tommy had been in the army, but had been discharged after a row with his commander over something he had not done; I never got to know what it was. He seemed heartbroken and drenched in sorrow most of the time, apart from when he was drunk. Since then, he has been in between jobs and most of the time; it is Jane who keeps the family running from her teaching job at wailer middle school. Of late, Tommy has been drinking heavily and having love affairs with different women and this is breaking up the family.
I look up and the sun is already up, but I am no longer interested, so I go back to the house and sit at the dining table with ...
