1. Newton's 3 Laws of Motion tell us why things move the way they do. Everything we experience in our everyday lives follows these laws. But for this question, just choose one example. Describe one time (other than the examples I gave you in lecture) in which you have personally experienced the effects of one of Newton's laws of motion. Perhaps a time after the lecture, when you were asked to notice Newton's Laws in action? Keep in mind the storytelling skills you've learned so far - specifically, be sure to have an engaging beginning!

Stories like the time an apple fell on Isaac Newton's head and he had his moment of "Newtonian synthesis," and the time Galileo dropped rocks off the Tower of Pisa are most likely not true, yet they continue to be told, including by me. What is an advantage to telling stories like these when discussing motion? Again, in your answer, keep in mind the storytelling skills you've learned so far - specifically, be sure to have an engaging beginning!
3. In my lecture and in other readings/videos, you learned about the evolution of thought about motion and matter, from Aristotle's "4 elements" up through current cutting-edge research on gravity. The invention and ongoing refinement of the telescope provided a huge new wealth of information to those studying gravity and motion. How does looking at the sky teach us things about motion and gravity as it applies to earthly objects like falling rocks and moving trains? Hopefully the answer to this is obvious to you, but your challenge is to answer the questions as if you're writing to someone who has never taken a science class and knows nothing about these topics.
4. This one is short-answer: in the Royal Institution lecture on general relativity, Fay Dowker described a conflict that general relativity solved. What was this big conflict in physics?
