Should be concise, represents essence of lab report

Use the funnel approach: start broadly and end with information about your lab and data
Paragraph 1: background on evolution
Define evolution
Explain how and why evolution occurs
Paragraph 2: background on the Anole lizards
What conditions they live in, food sources, etc
How they have evolved through the years (think of the phylogeny tree)
Paragraph 3: your lab experiments information (1-2 sentences for each part)
What was your hypothesis
What did you do to collect the data (methods)
What data was collected
What conclusion dis you draw and did the data support/refute your hypothesis
Methods
Paragraph form. Past tense (since you already did the experiments). Do not list materials. Should be detailed
enough so I can repeat each of the experiments you did.
Results
Each module gave you data. It should be shown here in the results section. Please see the Writing Lab
Reports link in Bb for more information on results sections. Use graphs when possible not data tables. Data
should be analyzed when possible and not a copy of the raw data collected when doing the experiment.
Discussion
Paragraph 1: was the hypothesis supported/refuted
Restate the hypothesis and tell what data led you to this major conclusion.
Paragraph 2, 3, 4, 5: Each will talk about the data from that module and how it supports/refutes the
hypothesis. ALL DATA SHOULD BE DISCUSSED IN THE LAB REPORT DISCUSSION SECTION
Paragraph 6: Concluding paragraph (MUST have cited sources, and 1 primary reference cited)
Should discuss ONE possible error and how to fix it.
Give ONE future experiment that ADDS to the data collected, not a repeat of the same experiment with a
longer time. You need to change one thing in the new experiment that will test for new data that furthers the
information found in these experiments.
One concluding sentence that sums up the lab report in a general fashion.

Lizard Evolution Lab Report
Evolution is a series of changes in the heritable characteristics of animals, plants and other biological objects over one, two or more successive generations. The evolutionary process gives rise to biodiversity at different levels, including cellular level, molecular level, and species level. New species are formed when the previous ones vanish from the face of the Earth. The chance is that every new species shares basic to advanced features with the earlier species. For example, today’s reptiles contain the same DNA and RNA sequences as were found in dinosaurs and other ancient animals. Darwin’s Theory of Natural Selection provides evidence that animals and plants produce offspring and struggle for their survival. However, not all of them can cope up with the drastic environmental changes. Some may die while larger animals eat the others. Every organism, in some part of its life, has to face certain changes in the environment. It does not receive support for its survival, so has to fight on its own. The animals and plants that are powerful and can perfectly deal with environmental changes survive for centuries, and the others vanish in no time (Godfrey 2014).
Just like other animals, fish and reptiles (including lizards) have long struggled for their survival. Lizard eggs are left on the mercy of the environment. There are variations within this species, and not all eggs are hatched and transformed into mature lizards. It mainly depends on whether they have been provided with sufficient food for survival or not. Anolis is a well-known genus of anoles, and these lizards belong to the family Dactyloidae. On an average, 350 species of anoles exist in the world, and these lizards are most exquisite examples of convergent evolution and adaptive radiation. For quite a long time, these lizards have undergone different morphological changes. Some of them live in tree canopy areas, while the others reside on tree trunks, close to the ground. Some even live on twigs and depend on dry leaves for their food. Anoles have always been the prior choice of sciences when it comes to conducting experiments on small and large scales, thanks to their diverse forms and different ecological and physiological patterns for making it possible (Lazić, Rödder, & Kaliontzopoulou 2017).
The hypothesis of this lab report is that “how to distinguish between male and female anole lizards?” These lizards were studied based on their color changes and body sizes. They produce offspring and share their characteristics with that of the Desert Iguana and the Inselberg Lizard.
Materials and Procedure
Materials:
* Six lizards were used in this experiment irrespective of their gender.
* Six glass containers in which these lizards could be placed.
Procedure:
* All of the lizards were placed in different containers, which were labeled as A, B, C, D, E, and F.
* They were allowed to choose their mates and have sex in the favorable habitat.
* The female anole lizards produced one egg each, every week, during the laying season, which starts in June and ends by September.
