Critical Reflection on This Week's Readings and Zoom Meeting
In this week's readings and Zoom meeting, I discovered several things that helped me learn more about the course topics and material. It was interesting to consider achieving air supremacy in disputed areas by working with lower-cost, attributable uncrewed aircraft in conjunction with more expensive human platforms (L. Votel, 2022, n.p). This strategy may improve military efficiency while safeguarding human operators and increasing complexity and expense for enemies (Demirjian, 2021, n.p). It pushed the boundaries of my preconceived notions of air operations and emphasised the significance of novel, flexible tactics in contemporary conflict.
I had concerns throughout the conversation regarding how some of the concepts that were put up would work in practice. Although the ideas in the publications appeared intriguing, I was concerned about how intricate coordination and communication between several autonomous and semi-autonomous cars could be accomplished without a hitch where R.F. and GPS signals were unavailable (Paul Calhoun, 2016, p. 101). Considering the disparities in technology and operational needs, I also considered the possible difficulties in integrating the more affordable unmanned platforms with the fleet of more expensive manned platforms. These worries underline the need for more study and development to handle implementation problems in the actual world. The emphasis on creating systems that are deadly enough to be successful yet affordable enough to tolerate loss was one scholarly concept that I agreed with. A costly tactic that might significantly affect opponents is the Gremlins programme, which uses a bigger host aircraft to launch and retrieve unmanned units (Paul Calhoun, 2016, p. 95). I also liked the idea of collaborative autonomy, where several platforms may cooperate to carry out mission goals better. Collaboration may imp...
