In this chapter, Muñoz seeks to demonstrate the central role of the state in the labor process by examining gendered aspects and racialized aspects of state policies in the U.S.-Mexico border region. The author asserts that in the United States, the new use of despotism is prevalent in immigrant communities and workplaces. This global state gives the author the ideal opportunity to discover how management regimes and policies on each side of the border apply several techniques to exploit the workers. The author also continues to state that immigration policies in the United States have created a pool of cheap immigrant labor in which the rights of the workers are limited. According to Muñoz (2011), despotism is associated with the U.S. border policy. One way to control unwanted immigration is to racialize immigration policy....
