Arguably, classical music is one of the timeless genres in music. For this reason, this genre has consistently attracted young musicians today to compose or play beautiful melodies in different events across the world. Prom 46 is one of these events. The classical musical festival by the BBC Proms takes place annually to showcase the best in classical music to a broader audience. This report describes the performance of Elgar’s Cello Concerto by Sheku Kanneh Mason during Prom 46, 2019. 
Event Description
This Prom 46 festival happened at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Sheku Kanneh Mason became a household name after winning the BBC award for young Musician of the year in 2016. Therefore, it was not surprising that the conductor, Sir Simon Rattle, picked him for the piece. The group playing alongside was the London Symphony Orchestra. 
Summary of Musical Content
One of the pieces played during the concert was Elgar’s Cello Concerto by Kanneh Mason. The cellist begins the piece with a narrower vibrato compared to other cellists playing the piece. However, this live playing lacks the phrasing subtleties needed for a studio recording. In my opinion, the first climax is deficient in an emotional punch. As a result, the audience may fail to notice it and listen without experiencing an emotional reaction. Subsequent peaks were also done in the same way.
