Write a 4-6 page paper on one of the topics below:
The paper must include at least 2 quotations from a secondary source that are applied to an analysis of the text. You may use any of the articles posted at Husky CT.
Research option: You may use a different secondary source if you like IF you find it through EBSCO Host or JSTOR at the UConn library. You may also choose an article at the back of the Norton Critical Edition of Frankenstein or The Bedford/ St. Martin’s Case Studies version that you can find through the UConn library. You must get your article approved by me through email.
Remember that you are graded on finding and using the best possible quotations for proving and developing  your argument.
Do NOT organize your paper along the plot line. Such a paper will fail. Organize the paper according to the logic of  YOUR points about the film adaptation.
1)     What is Mary Shelley saying about women in Frankenstein. For this topic, use the articles about women in Frankenstein posted at HuskyCT.  The article “Monster in the Garden” is probably the better article if you only read one article.  If you like, you could also write about women in the novel as opposed to the film.
2)     Discuss Shelley’s treatment of race in Frankenstein. For this topic, use the article on race posted at HuskyCT. (It takes a while, but the article does eventually discuss race.)
3)     Discuss how Shelley’s form generates complex meanings in the novel.
4)     Who is more moral (or immoral) Frankenstein, or the monster?
5)     Closely analyze the differences between the 1994 film version of Frankenstein and the novel.  You could discuss how one or more characters in the novel is different than in the film and/or you could write about a theme (like the critique of science) that is different, and/or you could write about the presentation of women. Remember not to follow the plot line.
Also remember that for each point/paragraph you make about the novel, you should then have a paragraph discussing that same aspect or point in the film, noting how it’s the same or different. Remember to use sufficient evidence from the film (through paraphrase is fine).
6)     What is Mary Shelley saying about science and/or scientists?

Immorality in Frankenstein
Introduction
Frankenstein novel by Mary Shelly is a novel that was published in 1818 and its film version released in 1994. However, the significance of this novel is still relevant to date. The book revolves around the main character, Victor Frankenstein, who was after being forced to join university by his dad becomes obsessed with science to the extent that he decides to create a replica of a human being. It is only after the creation that he realizes that he made a mess, and instead of taking care of his creature, he abandons it and runs away. The beast then decides to struggle on its own, engaging in harmful behaviors. This paper shall, therefore, highlight some immoral acts conducted by both Frankenstein and the Monster to determine the most immoral character between the two characters.
Immorality Acts by Frankenstein
To start with, Shelly, the author of the novel, portrays Frankenstein as an immoral character through various attempts with the most significant sign of immorality on Frankenstein being an attempt to create a human creature. This act is immoral, according to Shelly, since Frankenstein is trying to reciprocate God's did. Biblically, imitating God is regarded as improper action, and some things are only left for Him to do. Therefore, an attempt by Frankenstein to create life is seen as an act of competing against God hence deemed immoral.
Besides the immoral act of creating human life, Frankenstein is also seen in the film, engaging in several other actions that are deemed unethical. There are several scenes in the movie that Frankenstein disrespects his father. A perfect example is evident when Frankenstein seems to be reluctant to heed to his father’s call for him to join a university. Additionally, Frankenstein also is seen cutting off communication with his father. As if that is not enough, he does one of the worst things by running from his responsibility as a dad immediately after the birth of his baby. All these actions go against the ethical expectation of the society and as Dussinger puts it
“…Frankenstein betrayed his creation and, at the same time, in cutting himself off from this own family, betrayed his father as well..". (Dussinger, 1976, p. 38)
This is because, in a typical setting, it is expected that children should sow respects to their parents by heeding to their calls. Equally, parents are also likely to take care of their children, especially when they are young. By going against such expectations, Frankenstein comes out as an immoral creature.
Moving forward, it is also evident in the film that Frankenstein did not only abscond his parental responsibilities against his baby only since he also abandoned the monster creature after creating it. In a typical setting, it is expected that after realizing the mess that he had done, the least that Frankenstein could have done was to take care of the creature. This is because, unlike a healthy baby who has a biological parent, the monster creature created from scientific experiments did not have a dad. This way, his creator, who is Frankenstein, is expected to ...
