Ethical Issues in Comedy Sketches
Comedy sketches are perhaps one of the most interesting pieces of artforms these days. These kinds of medium allow for the representation of several deeply rooted issues in a comedic way that it increases people's awareness without being over aggressive in delivering the message. Accordingly, one of the most entertaining and interesting comedy sketches that I watched was Key and Peele's Gay Wedding Advice. In this four-and-a-half-minute sketch, the actors presented a skit wherein the Delroy family was trying to get pieces of advice about how to act and behave for their loved one's "Gay wedding". Accordingly, this article would focus on some of the most important things that I have learned from this skit and how it helped me shape my perception of an ethical issue (e.g., prejudice against same-sex marriages) I was not aware of until now.
Same-Sex Marriages
The reason why I found Key & Peele's sketch entertaining was because it helped me shape my perceptions about the rites during same-sex marriages in a fun and entertaining way. I have not attended any weddings between two couples of the same sex, not because of my personal preferences but because we came from a conservative neighborhood. I have many close friends and acquaintances who are members of the LGBTQ+ community, but most of them do not prefer to marry due to the idea that marriage is sacred and that two people of the opposite gender must only do it.
