Communication Breakdown
Communication is the process where a person encodes a message and passes it to another person through a communication channel. The receiver of the message them decodes the message for interpretation. Fruitful communication can only occur if the receiver gets the intended message from the sender. Sometimes in the communication process there are disturbances and these can prevent the receiver from getting the intended from the sender and when this happens there is a communication breakdown. Barriers to communication do exist and these include language differences, noise distractions and different perceptions. In addition, the emotional state in which one is determines how he or she will receive certain information. Poor retention can also lead to communication breakdown. Sometimes people may not retain what they have been told especially if they were not paying attention consequently leading to ineffective communication. Effective communication can also be hindered by communication noises which lead to wrong interpretation of the sent message. When communication breakdown occurs, communication becomes ineffective and this has various consequences including losses and conflicts.
